Springfield Day APRIL 21, 2010

SPRINGFIELD DAY 2010
A day for gifted and talented children, their families, and their teachers to gather in Springfield, Illinois

Sponsored by the Illinois Assoc. for Gifted Children

On this day gifted and talented children, parents, and teachers from across the state visited our state capital.  Over 1,000 parents, students, and teachers participated, and these efforst led, for the first time in five years, the state to provide some funding for Gifted Education.  Our collective voices were heard!

The objectives of this event were twofold.  First, we met with legislators to share with them the needs of gifted and talented students and to show how many families and teachers from across the state support funding for Gifted Education.  We wanted to make sure gifted education continues to receive funding and to increase the funding level to help more teachers and students.  Second, we wanted our children to experience democracy in action, see how laws are made, and visit Springfield attractions.
