GECO Event: Save the date!

Springfield Day APRIL 21, 2010

SPRINGFIELD DAY 2010
A day for gifted and talented children, their families, and their teachers to gather in Springfield, Illinois- Sponsored by the Illinois Assoc. for Gifted Children

Mark your calendars and plan to join hundreds of gifted and talented children, parents, and teachers from across the state, on a visit to our state capital.  Last year over 1,000 parents, students, and teachers participated, and for the first time in five years, the state provided some funding for Gifted Education.  Our collective voices were heard!  With your participation this year, it is our goal that the level of funding will be increased.

The objectives of this event are twofold.  First, we want to meet with legislators to share with them the needs of gifted and talented students and to show how many families and teachers from across the state support funding for Gifted Education.  We want to make sure we continue to receive funding and to increase the funding level to help more teachers and students.  Second, we want our children to experience democracy in action, see how laws are made, and visit Springfield attractions.  Consider this event as an activity to compliment the school curriculum.

If you are interested in attending contact Kathy Marinko at kathyjamz@aol.com
